Voltage

WHO or WHAT is High Voltage?
Is that a real person? Is that her name?

Yes! It IS a little over the top but it gets attention and that’s the point. There’s no question there is nobody quite like High Voltage; she is very definitely, one-of-a-kind. For those who haven’t picked up a newspaper (the Washington Post, New York Times, the NY Daily News, the NY Post, the San Francisco Examiner, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Minneapolis Tribune), looked at a magazine (Vogue, Allure, Fitness, Mademoiselle, Marie-Claire, the Ladies Home Journal, Seventeen), turned on the TV (“The Today Show”, “Inside Edition”, “Extra”) or Listened to the radio (WKTU – Morning Show, Danny Bonaduce in the morning, WBLS – Rick Party Show) – she’s the hyper-charged, electrifying Cosmic Queen or Energy who makes health and fitness fun for everyone who meets her.

For more than 20 years, High Voltage has been helping people get control of their lives with her energizing lifestyle principles and solutions. Named one of the top lifestyle and fitness gurus by Vogue magazine, she is the energy force behind people from all walks of life like: Today show host Katie Couric; actor Kelsey Grammer and his wife Camille; singer Dannii Minogue; performer RuPaul; models Beverly Johnson, Roshumba and Estella Warren; and many more too numerous to mention. Voltage has helped thousands of clients get their “Energy Up” through healthy eating, exercise, a new mindset and her exclusive electric brand of fun. In fact, her ground-breaking idea to put Huntington, New York on the Energy Up program sparked other cities to follow in her footsteps after the townspeople collectively lost over 3000 pounds.

High Voltage (aka Kathie Dolgin) was born and raised outside of Cleveland, Ohio in 1947 (no--that isn’t a typo!). Voltage is over 55 years old, but she hasn’t always been in the kind of shape she is today. In fact, Voltage believes that the reason she is successful in helping so many people is because she understands what it means to be completely out of control. Overeating was only one of her problems. The others were drug addiction, alcoholism and bulimia. Add to that the fact that Voltage comes from a family where most of the females are 50 to 100 pounds overweight. To break that cycle and overcome all those obstacles, she had to find a very powerful program. And she did.

Having tried virtually every type of health and “diet” program around, Voltage found that the cravings, low energy and the weight came back. Taking a page from Alcoholics Anonymous, she began to feel that her food cravings were like those of her previous cravings for drugs and alcohol. An addiction. She began experimenting with eliminating certain foods from her life. When she did, the cravings stopped and the excess weight went away and stayed away. Further testing this theory, she tried having just a little bit of what she began calling her trigger foods. Immediately, she felt out of control, the cravings returned and she began binge-eating again. When Voltage began sharing her experience with others, she found she was not alone.

Over the years, Voltage worked with more and more clients, to change from the inside out everything from their attitude to what they eat. Why do the Energy Up principles work so well? Two reasons- —because people feel and see the results almost immediately and because Voltage makes it entertaining and fun.

While Voltage continues to work with her personal clients, in light of the increase in America’s weight-related health problems, she began looking for more ways to get her message and methods out to the general public. Her book, “Energy Up” was the first such effort to expand her reach. In 2002, she applied her principles to start a program for teenage girls at Mother Cabrini High School in New York City to help address two major issues plaguing America’s youth – low self-esteem and an unhealthy lifestyle. In 2004, Voltage formed the not-for-profit organization EUVA, Inc. to expand the program into additional schools.
